Privacy Policy

Pocket Shift helps students find opportunities, log service and work hours, and get career-ready — and helps organizations and schools support them. To do that, we store the information you put into the app. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we only share your information in the ways described below (for example, an organization sees your application when you apply to it).

Pocket Shift is operated by The SingularX (“we,” “us”). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at daniel@thesingularx.com.

• Account information. Your email address and password (or one-time sign-in codes), and the account type you choose (student, organization, or school).
• Profile information. Your name, school, graduation year, career interests, and an optional profile photo. Organization accounts provide an organization name, mission, location, contact email, and website. School accounts provide their school and the names, titles, and emails of school officials.
• Activity you create in the app. Opportunities you save or apply to, service and work hours you log, experiences, skills, and certificates you add to your portfolio, interview schedules, and messages you exchange with organizations.
• Device information for notifications. A push-notification token and device platform, so we can deliver notifications you've enabled.

We don't collect your precise location, contacts, or browsing history, and we don't use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To run the app's core features: showing opportunities, submitting applications, logging and verifying hours, building your portfolio and resume, scheduling interviews, and delivering announcements and notifications.
• To respond to support requests and keep the service safe and reliable.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Pocket Shift connects three kinds of accounts, so some sharing is the product working as intended:

• Organizations you interact with. When you apply to an opportunity or route hours to an organization for verification, that organization can see your name, school, graduation year, your application, and the hours you submitted to it.
• Your school. If you link your profile to a school in our directory, that school's account can see your name, graduation year, and your logged service/work hours and their verification status — so it can track progress toward hour requirements. Your school cannot read your messages or see your applications.
• Service providers. We store data with Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and deliver app updates and push notifications through Expo. These providers process data on our behalf and don't use it for their own purposes.

Beyond that, we only disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Pocket Shift is built for high-school students. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you should review this policy with a parent or guardian, and by using the app you confirm they are aware you're using it. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it. Parents or guardians can contact us at daniel@thesingularx.com to review or delete their child's information.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can edit your profile at any time in the app. To delete your account and its data, contact us at daniel@thesingularx.com and we will delete it within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records (for example, hours already verified for a school requirement may be retained in aggregate). Old notifications are pruned automatically.

Your data is stored with Supabase and protected in transit with encryption (HTTPS). Access is controlled with row-level security so accounts can only read the data this policy describes — for example, an organization can only see students who applied to it or routed hours to it, and a school can only see its own students. No system is perfectly secure, but we design access narrowly by default.

If we make meaningful changes (for example, when we add paid subscriptions for organizations), we'll update this page, change the effective date above, and note the change in the app.
